Event organisers on tenterhooks following Covid-19 community cases


Napier Art Deco Festival
The Art Deco Festival in Napier has cancelled its opening day events due to alert level 2 restrictions.

Cameraman Christopher Tegg caught some of the action at the 2020 Art Deco Festival.
The festival was set to run from Wednesday through to Sunday, but organisers wrote on the festival website that events scheduled for Wednesday would not go ahead.
These included Art Deco vintage car tours, walking tours, the opening ceremony, a 1930s waiata and poi dance competition, and a big band concert.
“Based on Cabinet’s updates today and tomorrow, we will make decisions about the events for Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday once we know the status of Covid restrictions,” organisers said. ....

Coronavirus: Vinyl buy-and-swap organisers will likely postpone at alert level two


Lawson s Dry Hills group marketing manager Belinda Jackson said Vinyl in the Vines had received a “huge level of interest”, with more than 500 people ‘interested’ or ‘going’ to the event on its Facebook page.
“People are excited about digging out their vinyl and swapping, buying or selling their collections, or just listening to some fantastic playlists.
“We ll definitely be going ahead with the event, but its timing may be in question now . People can rest assured we will follow the rules that apply to each [alert] level. If that means a postponement, we will do that, until such a time that the Government dictates we can host it.” ....

Savour in Marlborough is the latest to be included in the calendar, showcasing a selection of local food and beverages on Friday, February 12.
To help offset the impact of Covid-19 on Marlborough’s economy and replace the cancellation of the Marlborough Wine and Food Festival, Feast Marlborough has co-ordinated a series of events during February and March. ....

Feast Marlborough is actively working
alongside venues, food producers, event organis- ers and
others to assist in developing an exciting series of events
during February and March. The main focus is to ensure that
all the exciting events planned relating to food and drink

TEAM Group Preparing For Action

A busy year looms for Marlborough’s TEAM (The Economic
Action Marlborough) Group which will reconvene at the
beginning of February to consider its key focus areas for
2021.
Established by the Council in April 2020, TEAM
is part of the Marlborough COVID-19 Recovery Plan. The
group’s activities have been informed by an Expert
Advisory Panel and working groups in the labour and
business, and tourism, retail and hospitality
sector.

as needing to provide support, leadership, promotion of
Marlborough and the local economy, and to encourage
