Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad AbubakarThe Sultan of Sokoto and the President General Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, has declared Monday March 15, as the first day of Sha’aban 1442AH.
Abubakar, made the declaration in a statement by Prof. Sambo Junaidu, Chairman, Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs, Sultanate Council, Sokoto.
“Sultanate Council Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs in Conjunction with the National Moonsighting Committee did not receive any report confirming the sighting of the crescent.

The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has received in audience the National Council of Traditional Rulers at the State House in Abuja on Thursday.
This was disclosed by presidential aide, Buhari Sallau, who also shared photos from the meeting.
“President @MBuhari receives in audience National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria in State House on 11th Mar 2021,” Sallau captioned the photos on

Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, has told the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), of the need to tackle insecurity in the country.
He gave the advice when he led the leadership of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs to pay a courtesy call to Buhari.
The presidency in a statement titled ‘President Buhari warns against ethnic, religious prejudices’, quoted the Sultan as calling on the government to deal decisively with the banditry that is raving the Northwestern States of Zamfara, Katsina, Sokoto, and some parts of the North Central.
While expressing confidence that security forces, with better synergy among them, will overcome present challenges, he solicited for the cooperation of all the governors with the federal government irrespective of their political leanings, calling on Nigerians to support the new leadership of the armed forces. ....
