culpeper counties, those did drift into prince william county last night. then as they crossed the potomac, they dissipated but left a lot of the roads wet. in the wake of that, we have cloudiness from the blue ridge east of southern maryland. parts of the eastern shore, it s cleared there. crossing the bay bridge, heading over toward eastern cambridge and salisbury, it s going to be great weatherwise. no travel problems. but temperatures off to a cool start this morning. right now, we re in the 60s to around 70 degrees all around the entire region. a little cooler, shenandoah valley into the mountains, and later today, we ll have a few clouds by mid morning. it will be in the mid 70s. by noontime, up around 80 degrees. and mostly sunny to partly cloudy. then middle of the afternoon ought to hit the mid to upper 80s briefly. and then by late afternoon, back down to the low 80s. i m back with another update in ten minutes. danella, good morning. how s traffic? good mor ....

million. and mercedes-benz. reporter: wow, what a prize! but the contest man says there was just one little thing. they needed $8,000 to cover taxes and processing. they couldn t take her check. they wanted it in gift cards. so mrs. b. goes to the nasa federal credit union and withdraws $8,000 in cash. and then per instructions goes to walmart and buys 16 $500 green dot gift cards. kept saying don t tell anybody what you are doing. because it is a surprise. reporter: before she even left the walmart parking lot, that contest man was on the phone again. he wanted the validation numbers off of those gift cards. because once he had the numbers, the money was his. meanwhile, back at the nasa federal credit union, they got suspicious about that big cash withdrawal and 911. police acted quickly and managed to freeze payment on 11 of the 16 gift cards. i think we have a good police force. and it was pure luck. the good lord was on our side. reporter: they seem to pic ....

gore and brooks put together a plan and used gray campaign contributions to fund it. and prosecutors say gore would take out money orders, $660 worth and brookes would put false names on them and hand them to brown. brown has said that gray knew about it, so far federal authorities haven t been able to prove it. and back out live now, the hearing is wrapping up. if brookes cooperates, he could serve parole and looks like sentenceing guidelines are anywhere from six months up to five years and the judge said if he cooperates with prosecutors, the prosecutors can then file a motion asking the judge to go lenient on him. we re told that not only thomas brookes but gore has been working with prosecutors as this investigation continues and one more thing, the former states attorney is representing mr. brooks and he said he s going to come out and talk about this in a few minutes and we should have comments for you at 6. and thank you, matt ackland. where does the case ....
