But as she retires following a remarkable 30-year career, Suffolk is saying a sad farewell to one of its most dedicated and experienced officers who has truly made a lifetime s difference to fighting crime.

The mental health impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on police officers could be felt for years to come , it has been warned. 
Darren Harris, chairman of Suffolk Police Federation, said the coronavirus crisis has put a lot of stresses and strains on officers. 
The rapid introduction and repeated changes to Covid restrictions, as well as issues with policing in PPE during the pandemic, has been challenging for many officers, Mr Harris said. 
It s difficult to measure, I can only guess where we re going to be heading and I think there have been a lot of stresses and strains placed upon police officers, he said.  ....

Proposals to reintroduce police force league tables  could herald the return of a damaging target culture , according to the staff association for officers in Suffolk.  
In response to reports of Home Office plans to rank forces on their success in cutting serious crime, chairman of Suffolk Police Federation, Darren Harris, said: We’re a public sector service and it’s very difficult to put key performance indicators (KPIs) on who’s good and who’s bad.
