NASHVILLE, Tenn. Tennessee s Meharry Medical College has received a $750,000 grant from the U.S. Economic Development Administration to expand innovation and entrepreneurship in underserved communities.
Meharry s ResilienSEED is a business incubator housed in the historically Black college s Center for the Study of Social Determinants of Health.
According to the school, the program allows vulnerable populations of diverse backgrounds the opportunity to hone business ideas, gain skills, and get connected with investment capital. 
ResilienSEED was one of 44 winners of the EDA s national Scaling Pandemic Resilience through Innovation and Technology Challenge.

Meharry Medical College has received a $750,000 grant from the U.S. Economic Development Administration to expand a seed-stage business incubator launched last year in the historically Black medical school’s Center for the Study of Social Determinants of Health.
ResilienSEED is a program aimed at helping vulnerable populations of diverse backgrounds develop businesses that address social inequities in their communities. The incubator provides investment capital, research and tech support, mentorships and a network of entrepreneurs to work with, bolstered by a partnership with Frist Cressey Ventures.
“It’s an idea for how we can provide resources to underserved communities that are having a fair amount of hardship in term of disparities, not only in economics but also in just the business numbers,” Bryan Heckman, founding director of Meharry’s Center for the Study of Social Determinants of Health, told the  ....

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — The U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA) gave Meharry Medical College a $750,000 grant from to expand ResilienSEED, a business incubator established by and housed in Meharry’s Center for the Study of Social Determinants of Health.
ResilienSEED is focused on improving socioeconomic disparities in underserved communities through innovation and entrepreneurship. The Center’s work, through ResilienSEED and other programming, is dedicated to understanding how social conditions create barriers to achieving health equity and prosperous wellbeing, then establishing actionable programming that catalyzes a pendulum of change. ....

Source: TN Dept. of HealthThe Tennessee Department of Health has reported a total of 794,137 cases of COVID-19 across the state, up 1,342 cases on Tuesday from 8,867 new test results a 9.3 percent positivity rate. 
Of the total number of cases, 11,650 people have died up 12 from the number 24 hours ago.
The number of active cases has fallen 7 percent in the past two weeks, extending the positive trend that started shortly after New Year s. On Monday, state health officials reported that 12,476 individuals are currently infected with COVID-19. ....
