Pocono Arts Council announces winners of its Juried Student Exhibition

The Pocono Arts Council presents its annual Juried Student Exhibition with events starting on April 3. 
The show, located in the Community Gallery, 701 Main St., Stroudsburg will feature 39 entries from students in kindergarten through 12th grade enrolled in the Monroe County School District and runs through April 23.
The exhibition includes works in 2-D, 3-D, and Photography. Mediums represented include acrylic, collage, mixed media, pastel, paper, photography, watercolor, oil, pencil, and pen and ink.  
Schools represented in 2021 include Clear Run Elementary Center, East Stroudsburg Senior High School North, Evergreen Community School, J.T. Lambert Intermediate School, Little Mountain Academy, Notre Dame High School, Pleasant Valley High School, Pocono Mountain West High School, Swiftwater Elementary Center, Swiftwater Intermediate School, along with several home school ....

The Pennsylvania Department of Education’s annual Safe Schools report for the 2019-20 school year showed a noticeable drop in reported arrests.
Districts are required to submit their misconduct reports, both criminal and academic infractions, to the state every year. Reporting sometimes changes from year-to-year, but no changes were made last school year.
Last year, the top three criminal reasons why students were in trouble statewide were:
Possession, use, or sale of tobacco or vaping 8.34 percent
Fighting 8.14 percent
Minor altercation 5.42 percent
