Garden Club roots itself to Arbor Day

Why do we celebrate Arbor Day? Arbor literally translates to “tree” day in Latin. It is the holiday that celebrates the planting, upkeep and preservation of trees. For centuries people over the globe have found many ways to honor nature and the environment. The appreciation of trees and forests in modern times can be attributed to Arbor Day. This year it is April 30, here in Illinois is it the last Friday of April. Some states celebrate it on different dates according to the climate, for example, Hawaii celebrates it on the first Friday in November and Alaska on the third Monday in May. ....
