Education key to a brighter future for Indigenous Australians: Wesley Enoch
Marking Sorry Day 2021, Wesley Enoch AM, QUT Indigenous Chair in the Creative Industries, playwright, and artistic director, says more can be done to bridge the gap between graduation and meaningful employment for Indigenous Australians.
“Saying sorry is important but actions speak louder than words in giving Indigenous Australians the recognition we deserve and have waited 250 years for,” said Mr Enoch.
“This is where education can play an enormous role in shifting perceptions of all Australians and facilitating systemic change to reflect the needs of everyone, from the cities and suburbs to remote communities.

Surf Life Saving Queensland today announced it is joining forces with hi-tech drone search and rescue company The Ripper Group in a move it believes will revolutionise the way lives are saved in marine environments around the world.
SLSQ’s investment in the rebranded Ripper Corporation will contribute significantly to the organisation’s vision of zero preventable drowning deaths in the state’s public waters.
Capitalising on The Ripper Group’s standing as world market leaders in drone search and rescue deployment, training, research and development, SLSQ aims to integrate its state-of-the-art drone and hi- tech AI applications into existing surf lifesaving operations and wider disaster responses.
New COVID restrictions in place for Sydney
NSW recorded two new locally acquired cases of COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 8pm last night, NSW Health says.
The two cases are the Sydney man, aged in his 50s, reported yesterday and a woman, also in her 50s. NSW Health says they are household contacts and live in the eastern suburbs.
The state government has also announced a number of new restrictions for the city.
From 5pm today, no more than 20 visitors will be allowed in the home. No singing or dancing at venues with the exception of weddings - where up to 20 people allowed to dance.

New Zealand s wealthiest heir, Harry Hart, has jumped the Ditch to join his girlfriend of more than two years, Aussie heiress Cartier Lee.
Lee, the daughter of cattle baron Trevor and fashion designer Keri Craig-Lee, has spent the past year in New Zealand with the Hart family. As soon as the transtasman bubble opened, Hart and Lee went to enjoy her ocker side of life and see her friends and family
Before Covid struck, both the Hart and Lee families would usually escape the Southern Hemisphere winter in favour of their superyachts in the Mediterranean. The families have private jets in common too.
Remove dingoes off Stradbroke Island
The dingoes on Stradbroke Island need to be removed, they are not native animals, all native animals are marsupials.
Genetic studies indicate the dingoes arrived in Australia with the migration of Southern India aborigines about 4,000 years ago when they migrated from Borneo through Sulawesi to Australia.
DNA shows dingoes lost multiple copies of a starch digestion gene while living with agricultural people possibly in Borneo, Indonesia, which identifies their origin.
About 4,000 years ago the Tasmanian Tiger or Thylacine existed on the mainland, as it was a solitary animal and dingoes hunt in packs, they eventually wiped out Thylacines.
