and after, and you can see the tension. reporter: no question about it and the questions about how this will play out in the days to come. right now chuck schumer, the senate majority leader, is meeting with nancy pelosi behind closed doors. they re discussing their stra strategy. after that they will meet with mitch mcconnell. they ll discuss whether they can come to any sort of agreement on the rules of the trial. that s significant because what pelosi is signalling this morning is that that rule needs to be cut. before the d before the democrats send the rules over from the house. when i asked about the press conference and the immediate vote to impeach the president, i asked, is it possible you ll never send over those articles? she sidestepped the question and seemed to indicate she may never
democrats. yeah. even though public opinion polls show a majority of americans, americans, okay? across party lines, should the people court overturn roe versus wade, 67% say no. only 29% say yes at the moment, how are americans so out of step? that is a good question. this matter is largely settled, and i would say to some of my republican colleagues, why don t we put the human life on the floor and see how it does. of course it would fail and not pass. so i think that the tra strategy is so simply chip away.
combative, the reporters were also performing, there was this live reality tv performing by asking tough questions of the white house? yes, combat. this live combat, it seemed like every day, going on. and i guess performing maybe performing is an exaggeration but this intense combat going on every day between the press and the white house and they wanted to try and sort of cool that off. it was becoming a distraction, you know, spicer s profile was getting too high. and it was taking away you know, sort of taking away from issues. so that s what i was told the stra strategy was behind it to lower the temperature in the room around these press briefings a little bit and they were hoping taking them off camera could do that and now it s created its own drama and people rightfully so asking questions about that. let s not lose the bigger political point here, which is what this is what got trump to this point. wear all talking about how odd it is. this is the man who said in
unified than we ve seen them in years. john and christine. let s talk about the newly shaped campaign, we ve got cnn policy editor zachary wolf. right and live for us this morning. zach, is this kind of a new strategy from team trump. on the front make of the wall street journal, the trump attack, turn voters against clinton. we heard them say they think his new strategy is to disgust democrats so they don t come out to vote. is that really happening? well, you know, maybe it s some things he s doing in search of a strategy. you would have to kind of go backwards and think did he do that all of that on purpose to make that happen or is he reacting to his own foyables with the reaction of that tape that wouldn t have predicted that would happen. perhaps he s rolling with the punches. i don t believe voter suppression by democrats
.it s a canvas for painting. you can t do that on a mac. donald trump unshackled. trashing the gop establishment, maybe trying to turn off democratic voters as part of some shrewd strategy. hillary clinton targeting millennials. and now taking her campaign west. with 27 days to go until election day. plus, exclusive allegations as clinton s campaign chairman claims russian spies with ties to the trump campaign hacked his e-mail account. welcome back to earler.
