team has been doing up and down the guslf coast of florida. we want to get to cnn meteorologist allison chinchar, tracking idalia s every move from the cnn weather center. walk me through. what are we expecting going forward? now that we have had official landfall at 7:45 eastern time this morning, just near keaton beach, now that we have had that, the focus begins to shift. now we are looking at an inland threat for a lot of these communities. along the coast you are still going to have storm surge concerns, still going to have dangerously high winds. now we are also going to start to see some of those communities inland dealing with some of these extremely high winds. this is an extreme wind warning to 10:15 a.m. expands farther inland. as the storm works across florida, it will bring the high winds with it. you have the outer bands that could produce tornado warnings throughout the day. we have had already had a dozen of them. the amount of rain.
see wind gusts as high as 76. anyone that s been to beautiful savannah and charleston, a lot of mature huge trees in this area. once we get to the 70-mile-per-hour category we talk about more problems with trees and power outages and if this happens to be at 8:30 tonight when we get the max winds that s when high tide is and our supermoon and that s a horrible timing and why we ll have storm surge concerns in charleston and savannah later on this evening, willie. a lot of dynamics. the main concern now, we re having landfill. perry, florida, our thoughts and prayers are with you because you re about to get hit by a category 3 major hurricane and then during the day today switches to worried about tornadoes and then tonight into areas of coastal south carolina and georgia. yeah, landfill expected within the next several minutes qualify the top of the hour at 8:00 eastern time. we ll keep a close eye on that. obviously home to major university, florida state, famu, community college, c

hurricane center which could possibly come while we are talking to bill. so if it does, he will update us with that. where do things stand at this moment? what are your expectations i think for what everyone is really concerned about, the storm surge? yeah. the storm surge issues are only in the back bays at this time. the winds that are coming in here are pushing all that water toward all these little inlets in the rivers in here. we re not watching too many problems at the coast. so the storm surge concerns have diminished considerably. we may not see more problems at all. a lot of these wind gusts with in the 50 mile-per-hour range. i ve only seen these areas that are closest to that in the 50s. some buoys off the coast are in the 60 mile-per-hour range. a lot of these winds have not been strong enough for considerable damage either. all of these issues have been water issues because of all the rain. here s a closeup of the path. this black line from the national hurricane center.
