Overstrand Municipalityâs Social Development Department, in partnership with relevant stakeholders, has taken the 16 Days of Activism of No Violence against Women and Children close to its heart in raising awareness of and stopping violence against these vulnerable members of Hermanus society.
Not turning a blind eye is one of the pillars of these 16 Days, an international campaign takes place every year from 25 November (International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women) to 10 December (International Human Rights Day).
The department has visited several schools, clinics and taxi ranks in Greater Hermanus. The outreach programmes aim to educate residents about the negative impact violence against women and children have on society, and to encourage them to act against abuse. The Grade R and Grade 1 cl ....
