same intensity for the tax bill regot done or the intensity we are having for the second compromise bill. where was that intensity 6, 7 months ago when we said this is the kind of legislation we need to pass. this is what we told the american people we are going to do. can i ask you something quirky that happened when the president spoke the other night. he said, hey, where is mark sanford. he ran a great election campaign, didn t he? he just lost in his primary. the president put out a tweet that said had a great meeting last night with the white house gop last night at the capitol. they applauded and laughed loudly when i mentioned my experience with mark sanford. i have never been a fan of his. mark sanford is a friend. i helped him campaign. i wanted him to win.
line. that s fair. that s consistent with the rule of law. let s pass that legislation. i m not reporting something you don t know. but i don t think the good lot measure can pass. i m not sure the compromise bill can either. look, we would have appreciated the same intensity in whipping the good lat litigation. the compromise bill has good elements in it. i worked on some of those. it just doesn t go far enough. it is not entirely consistent with what they gave the american people when they elected us. we will see what happened today. i m hopefulful the first passes. that has been consistent with the promise we made. has paul ryan let you down? has leadership let you down? i just wish they would have whipped this months ago. i wish we would have had the
