With evidence now overwhelming that Budish cannot lead this county effectively, that cannot happen next year when Budish could seek a third term. Now is the time for serious Democratic and Republican candidates to start building their support and campaign war chests to run for county executive. The resume for Steven Hammett, the current chief of public safety for the Cleveland Institute of Art, lists only an associate’s degree in fine arts. The charter sets the minimum educational requirement for sheriff at an associate’s degree in law enforcement or criminal justice. ....
