Sade Olatoye Wins Again! Buckeyes Third

COLUMBUS, Ohio – There were just two point-producing finals Friday, the first day of the three-day Big Ten Conference men’s and women’s track and field championships being held in Champaign, Ill., but Ohio State scored enough points to be third in the women’s competition and eighth in the men’s. The championships are being held at the University of Illinois at its new Demirjian Park/Gary R. Wieneke Track.

The headline-grabbing result of the day was by Sade Olatoye, the master’s degree candidate pursuing bioethics, who won her second Big Ten outdoor title and her seventh Big Ten crown overall by taking first in the hammer with a new Big Ten championships throw of 68.9m / 226-0. ....

Buckeyes Compete at IU Big Ten Invite No. 2

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State travelled with a squad of virtually all middle distance and distance runners to the Indiana Big Ten Invite No. 2 in Bloomington, Ind. Friday. The event was set up as a two-day meet, but was changed to a one-day – Friday only – meet late this week because of the pending inclement weather forecast for the Midwest on Saturday.
Regardless, it ended up being a two-day meet. The weather hit Friday, anyway, causing two meet delays and extending the meet past the Eastern midnight hour and into Saturday morning.
What blew through Bloomington from the East, however, were some terrific performances by the Buckeyes. No. 1 was the 3,000-meter steeplechase of sophomore Allie Guaguenti, from Powell, Ohio. Guaguenti was second in the 11-runner field in a school-record smashing time of 10:11.86 to top Sarah Kanney’s two-year-old record of 10:21.02. ....
