Apr 21, 2021 WARREN Paula Rand, 51, of Starlight Drive NW, died 8:26 a.m. Monday, April 12, 2021, at Continuing Health Care, following an extended illness. She was born July 18, 1969, in Youngstown, the daughter of the Rev. William J. and Doris K. Jordan Rand. She was an assembler at General Motors Corp., Lordstown, and was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church. Survivors include her brother, Jeffrey Rand, and sister, Vanita Rand, both of New York, N.Y. Paula was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers. Graveside services will be noon Friday in Oakwood Cemetery. Masks are required, and social distancing will be upheld.

Feb 23, 2021 MINERAL RIDGE Pearline Hines, 86, of 3379 Main St., Mineral Ridge, departed this life at 12:45 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 14, 2021, at Continuing Healthcare at the Ridge, following complications from an extended illness. She was born Feb. 8, 1935, in Indianapolis, Ind., the daughter of Willie and Ester Smith Henderson. Ms. Hines was employed with General Motors B.O.C. Lordstown Division for 30-plus years as a metal assembler in the Fab Plant before retiring. She also worked as a nurse’s assistant at Community Hospital and Warren General. She was a 1953 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School. She was a member of Grace A.M.E. Church and belonged to the Hill Toppers Bowling League, Local Union 1714 (1112) Civil Rights Committee and was chairperson of the Women’s Civil Rights Committee. She was an avid bingo player, enjoyed bowling and loved playing baseball, especially in the Negro Baseball League.
