The Polk Education Association held a class action grievance hearing with district leaders Friday with dozens of schools dealing with broken or malfunctioning air conditioning units.
Following the first day of school, 15 additional Polk County schools filed work orders for AC problems, bringing the total to 30 Polk County schools without working AC.
The Polk Education Association represents 5,000 district employees. The union filed a complaint against the school district on Thursday for issues related to air conditioners at 15 schools.
