Hoosiers age 55 and older now can make an appointment to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
The Indiana State Department of Health announced Tuesday that recent federal use approval for the one-dose Johnson and Johnson vaccine â along with the 53,900 doses of the new vaccine expected to arrive in the state this week â ensure Indiana will have a sufficient of number of doses of all three COVID-19 vaccines to reduce the minimum eligibility age to 55 from 60.
Appointments to receive the free immunization must be made online at ourshot.in.gov, or by calling 211.
A friend or family member may make an appointment on behalf of a person age 55 and older. But the person registered must be an Indiana resident and may be required to provide photo identification before he or she is given the COVID-19 vaccine.

Four Advocates for Change Named Recipients of Sallie Mae’s Bridging the Dream Scholarship for Graduate Students Sallie Mae today announced it has awarded four graduate students $20,000 each through its Bridging the Dream Scholarship Program. The four aspiring leaders chosen as this years recipients were asked to share what made their journey to graduate school unique and what they hope to accomplish. MADISON, Wis. In Wisconsin, exactly who will be eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine in group 1B hasn’t been decided just yet.
Tuesday morning, the State Disaster Medical Advisory Committee (SDMAC) Vaccine Subcommittee met to finalize its recommendations for group 1B, which will be sent to DHS. Their recommendations include people older than 70, people living in congregate settings such as Family Care, jails or shelters, and frontline essential workers such as first responders, childcare workers and educators with direct interaction with students.
