Christmas pageant blessings at the Congregational Church of Phillipston Residents gather and give thanks at outdoor Sunday service Carole Gariepy Special for The Gardner News PHILLIPSTON It was cold and foggy but above freezing as the Congregational Church of Phillipston held its worship service outdoors where everyone felt comfortable about gathering during this time of COVID-19. We are becoming more like the original Christians, who were without churches and steeples, the Rev. Stephanie Flynn said during the Dec. 13 service. These are blessings. Jesus did not have those luxuries. Thinking about Jesus preaching outside to his followers made us feel good about doing the same. In fact, fog is a low-lying cloud, and that gave the service a kind of heavenly feeling. ....
