In the last 20 years, interest in vinyl records has skyrocketed as well as profits.
At the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the music industry was left reeling. Live gigs were canceled, bands were wrenched apart by financial strain, and the industry’s future was as uncertain as the release date of Kanye’s next album. Ingenuity, both in music and business, was a must for all those who desired to stay afloat.
Aaron Zimmer, owner of Leesta Vall Sound Recordings in Brooklyn, knows this firsthand. Leesta Vall was the brainchild of Zimmer, an ex-touring musician-turned-vinyl lathe-cutting extraordinaire. After spending years honing his skills in lathe-record cutting, or instant vinyl record making, Zimmer started Leesta Vall as a way of putting his new skills to use. ....
