A new leader will take the helm of the Whitney Point Central School District this summer. The district s board of education voted unanimously Tuesday to appoint Jo-Ann Sexton as its new superintendent, starting July 1. Sexton will replace Patricia Follette, who is retiring June 30 after a 33-year career in education, including the past nine years as superintendent. Sexton, who earned her bachelor s degree from Binghamton University and a master s degree from Oneonta College, and is currently completing her doctoral degree at Binghamton University, started with the Whitney Point district as a school counselor in 1989. After 17 years as a counselor, Sexton served as an assistant principal and director of special services before becoming assistant superintendent nine years ago. ....
