OUT with the old and in with the new. Decluttering in the new year has become a ritual habit for some families but, as we go through old photo albums, clothes that no longer fit and childhood toys, we may be sitting on a goldmine and didn’t even know it. Although toys might not seem likely contenders for items to invest in, if you come across the right ones and keep them in perfect condition, you may have hit the jackpot. The experts at OnBuy’s toy department decided to look into some of the most valuable toys and games that could earn you a fortune and discovered ‘Barbie’ is searched nearly four million times on average every month globally, with the most valuable doll said to be worth £226,000.

Turns out, your childhood penchant for collecting Beanie Babies (or trading cards or Barbie dolls or comic books) could turn you into a millionaire. According to some new data from OnBuy s toy department, these nostalgic toys could be worth
staggering amounts of money right now.
The report indicates that even simple relics from your childhood like Disney VHS tapes could sell for thousands (the highest-earning on record for one of these is a whopping $15,000).
Classic board games and toy cars have sold for six figures. And the highest recorded sale for a Barbie doll was over $300,000, which is still significantly less than the highest recorded Beanie Babies sale, a cool $600,000.
These toys could earn you a fortune - but have you got any lurking in the back of the cupboard?
Disney VHS video tapes, Hot Wheels, Beanie Babies and Barbies amongst those that are worth the most according to the experts
