Nodal Exchange announced today that it achieved record share of monthly power and environmental futures trading volume in the United States in February 2021, with 46.6% and 11.7% respectively.
“We are excited to see strong growth in the Nodal Exchange power and environmental markets and very much appreciate the trust and support of our trading and clearing community which has enabled us to achieve these record results,” said Paul Cusenza, Chairman and CEO of Nodal Exchange.
In February 2021, Nodal achieved power futures trading volume of 218.4 million MWh ($6.1 billion per side) for a record 46.6% market share. This represents Nodal Exchange’s second highest volume month ever and a growth rate of 17.7% over February 2020. Trading on Nodal was especially strong this month in PJM with a record 52.5% market share with 179.1 million MWh of month ....

HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WDAM) - Itâs been 11 months since unemployment rates skyrocketed in the Hattiesburg Metropolitan Statistical Area.
Now, officials say the latest numbers reveal the unemployment rate sits closer to the rate it was prior to COVID-19.
âWhat is most exciting is that we ended out 2020 with an unemployment rate that is down back to around 5.2%,â said Todd Jackson, executive vice president of the Hattiesburg Area Development Partnership.
Though itâs not as low as the 4.2% rate the area saw pre-pandemic, itâs better than it was in April of 2020. ....

OCC, the world s largest equity derivatives clearing organization, announced today that February 2021 total cleared contract volume was 828,558,430 contracts, the second highest month on record after January 2021 and up 45.6 percent compared to February 2020. Year-to-date average daily cleared contract volume through February was 44,002,651 contracts, up 61.4 percent compared to February 2020.
Options: Total exchange-listed options cleared contract volume was 823,412,827, up 47.4 percent compared to February 2020. Equity options cleared contract volume was 786,095,745 contracts, up 54.8 percent compared to February 2020. A new study by Juniper Research has found that the total value of premiums generated by insurtech platforms – platforms with technology supporting insurance at the heart of their design – will exceed $556 billion in 2025, from $250 billion in 2020; growing by 123%. It predicts that insurers in the motor, life, home and health industries risk becoming less attractive to potential customers if they fail to capitalise on the benefits that AI underwriting systems bring.
The report identified that weakened customer loyalty, and the driving down of premiums by increased competition and the shift to digital will cause seismic change in insurance over the next five years. It recommends that large insurers focus on using insurtech solutions to improve customer interactions by creating data-driven models, or lose market share to newer, digitally-native vendors. ....
