Walsh, also from m.i.t. mr. freelander, in terms of this disaster, what are you watching most closely? what gives you the most concern right now? as you said, anderson, there s really two priorities for the station operators at this point. it s absolutely essential that the reactor cores remain covered with water, so doing whatever is necessary to make sure that continues. and making sure that the spent fuel pool is filled with water. those two elements are the number one priority. the number two priority is restoring electrical power as soon as possible. once that happens, they will have available all of the systems they would normally have available. they ve said that they re trying to restore power to these facilities with a new electrical line and will try to do that today, though it s not clear how immediate the impact would be. ....
