Die Schweiz schrammte diese Woche an einer Hochwasserkatastrophe vorbei. Seen traten über die Ufer, die Pegel von Aare, Reuss und Limmat überstiegen gleich mehrfach die höchsten Gefahrenstufen. Das Wasser dieser drei Flüsse fliesst bei Brugg AG zusammen und strömt danach durch das untere Aaretal. Dort, kurz vor der Einmündung in den Rhein, steht mitten auf einer Insel im Fluss das Atomkraftwerk Beznau. Auch dem AKW Gösgen kamen die Wassermassen diese Woche gefährlich nahe.
Nicht erst seit dieser Woche, schon seit dem Hochwasser von 2005 und nach der Katastrophe von Fukushima gerät der Schutz der Schweizer AKW gegen extreme Hochwasser in den Fokus. Wegen der Katastrophe 2011 in Japan gab der Bund den Auftrag zu einer grossangelegten Studie, welche die Hochwassergefahr unter anderem auch für AKW beurteilen sollte. Ab 2013 forschte ein Team unter Führung des Bundesamts für Umwelt (Bafu) und der Eidgenössischen Forschungsan ....
