Centre has been proactively carrying activities towards preparing for the nationwide roll-out of the COVID-19 vaccine in close collaboration with States/UTs and all stakeholders. Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW) on Sunday held a Video Conference with administrators from States and UTs on the CoWIN software which forms the backbone of the last-mile vaccine administration.
The meeting was chaired by Ram Sewak Sharma, Chairman of Empowered Group on Technology and Data Management to combat COVID-19 and member, National Expert Group on Vaccine Administration of COVID-19. The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Sunday held a video conference with administrators from states and union territories on the CoWin software which forms the backbone of the last-mile vaccine administration. Punjab starts dry run of COVID-19 vaccination in two districts

The exercise to conduct a dry run of the distribution and administration of the COVID-19 vaccine over a two-day period in two selected Punjab districts began on Monday, health officials said.
The districts of Ludhiana and Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar (Nawanshahr) have been selected for the dry run, aimed at testing the laid out mechanisms for the vaccination roll-out in the health system, said Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu.
He said it would provide insights on any gaps or bottlenecks in vaccine distribution and its administration to the population so that those could be addressed before the commencement of the COVID-19 immunisation drive. ....

Yellow Fever Scourge and Enugu Govt's Prompt Response

In November this year, there were strange deaths of people in Ette Uno and Umuopu communities in Igbo-Eze North LGA of Enugu State. The situation created panic, confusion and pandemonium in the affected communities and the entire state. The indigenes and residents of the communities were scared and upbeat.
While many claimed ignorance of the causes of the strange deaths, others attributed it to superstitions, some were of the view that it was the sudden surge in COVID-19 virus spread.
But in his usual prompt and swift response, just like he did during the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic in the state, Governor Ugwuanyi dispatched Enugu State Ministry of Health Rapid Response Team and LGA Rapid Response Team to visit the affected communities in alongside the national and international health partners to unravel the immediate and remote causes of the sudden strange deaths in the communities. ....
