NJ targeting Medicaid members in vaccine push

State Health Commissioner Judy Persichilli has pushed for greater access to COVID-19 vaccines for vulnerable and disadvantaged populations.
State officials have taken proactive steps to support New Jersey’s nearly 1.9 million Medicaid members during the pandemic, including a recent push to expand COVID-19 immunization that involves phone calls to almost 260,000 individuals most at risk for infection.
Much of the work which also involved mailings in English and Spanish, ongoing case management and partnerships with medical and social service providers to ensure members have proper care, plus food and other necessities is being done by a handful of health insurance companies that provide Medicaid coverage under contracts with the state Department of Human Services. ....

NJ COVID vaccine: Here is the number of people vaccinated by county


Two Central Jersey counties rank high on the list of New Jersey counties with the highest percentage of residents who have received the COVID-19 vaccine.
According to the state Department of Health dashboard on Tuesday, about 3.2% of Hunterdon County s 124,371 residents have received either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine.
Only the percentages in Morris and Cape May counties, both 3.5%, are higher in the state.
In Hunterdon County, 3,989 residents have received the vaccine.
In Somerset County, about 2.8% of residents, 9.484, had received the shots.
In Middlesex County, the number falls to 2% of residents, 16,988.
Only 1.9% of Union County residents, 10,861, have been vaccinated. That is the fourth lowest percentage in the state. ....
