well, in the end, the reason i made that comment, i do believe this is our moment in wisconsin s history. it s one of those where for year after year, not just the last governor, but governors before, legislatures before, have kicked the can. they ve taken one-time fixes to push the budget problems off into the future. we can t do that. we re broke. like nearly every other state eye cross the country, we re broke and it s about time that someone stood up and told the truth and said here s the problem, here the solution and acted on it. if we don t, we fail to make the commitment to the future and our children will face the dire consequences. governor, if you re really serious about the state being broke, you have a deal that you could take, to get the contributions you need to solve the problem at hand. why not separate that out from your views about collective bargaining? but, david, my point is repeatedly, as a former local government official, i know that collective bargaining ....
