Ocala man gets 10 years in prison for beating, cutting a man
A second man who law enforcement officials arrested for allegedly beating and cutting a man was sentenced Friday by a judge in a change-of-plea hearing.
Represented by local attorney David Mengers and appearing by Zoom from the Marion County Jail, Michael Swint pleaded guilty to charges of burglary of a dwelling while armed, battery and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Swint, 41, of Ocala, was sentenced to 10 years in prison by Circuit Judge Gary Sanders. He has 999 days of credit, according to his lawyer. At the time of his 2018 arrest, Ocala police officials said, Swint had 11 prior convictions.
