During his visit at NOLCOM Headquarters, Gapay awarded battle campaign streamers to Joint Task Force Kaugnay and Joint Task Group Defenders for dismantling Komiteng Larangang Gerilya South Ilocos Sur; and Joint Task Force Tala and Joint Task Group Liberator for dismantling Komiteng Larangang Gerilya Quirino-Nueva Vizcaya.
“The battle streamers are manifestations of NOLCOM’s outstanding performance as far as internal security operation is concerned,” the general said.
In terms of territorial defense efforts, Gapay underscored the established facilities in Mavulis Island and the 11 sovereign markers built by NOLCOM in the chain of uninhabited islands which assert the country’s sovereignty in the northern maritime territory.

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon CIty, Jan. 29 The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff General Gilbert Gapay lauded the men and women of Southern Luzon Command (SOLCOM) for their counter insurgency feat during his farewell visit at Camp Guillermo Nakar, Lucena City, Quezon on January 26, 2021.
A week before his retirement, General Gapay visited the headquarters of SOLCOM where he earned his third star as the Commander of the said command. He was welcomed with military honors by its commander, Lieutenant General Antonio Parlade Jr.
During his visit he commended SOLCOM for their accomplishments on ending local communist armed conflict. SOLCOM was able to neutralize 319 Communist Terrorist Group members and dismantled guerilla front and platoons, such as Komiteng Larangang Gerilya-Cesar, Platun Silangan Sub-Regional Military Area-4C, and Platun Japson Sub-Regional Military Area-4B of Southern Tagalog Regional Party Committee.

QUEZON CITY, Jan. 29 The removal of sandbars to clear the constricted section of Cagayan River, known as the Magapit Narrows, and the massive planting of bamboo along its bank will begin on February 2, Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Secretary and Task Force Build Back Better chair Roy A. Cimatu announced on Wednesday. This is the culmination of weeks of meticulous planning and detailed coordination to ensure that each of the dredging equipment is safely transported to the sandbar sites and that bamboos are grown at critical portions of the riverbank needing immediate measures to address stream bank erosion and instability.

Major General Brawner recently assumed as the first Deputy Chief of Staff for Financial Management, J10, an office which was newly activated last December 2020. Prior to his current assignment, he served as the Commandant of Cadets of the Philippine Military Academy, Commander of the 103rd Brigade during the liberation of Marawi City, and served as the Chief of AFP Public Affairs Office.
