Sources said that the change in nomenclature, shifting from PRR to Bengaluru Business Corridor, might not prove beneficial unless the State Government incorporates the concerns of land losers, convincing them to part with their land. Despite the land losers demanding increased compensation, the State Government remains unwilling to meet their demands.
The tender has been floated for the construction of PRR under the Design, Build, Finance, Operate Transfer, and would include the construction of the development of an 8-lane Peripheral Ring Road with a service road to Bengaluru City for approx. length of 74 km and with 100 m of right of way.
Connecting northeast, east, and southwest Bengaluru, the 74 km road was proposed in 2008, initially requiring 1,810 acres. However, due to design changes, an additional 750 acres were necessary, with land acquisition awaiting government approval.
