Indian prepress trade shop Numex Blocks has invested in the full Esko workflow and Crystal line of platemaking system. The Mumbai-based specialist in flexo and letterpress plate production serves customers in the flexible packaging, labels, letterpress and corrugated markets in India. The company has boosted its capacity with the Esko CDI Crystal 5080 plate imager and XPS Crystal 5080 exposing unit, together with extended gamut printing software Equinox, and Print Control Wizard. Murad Kalal, Esko Flexo & Software regional sales manager, said: ‘Almost 20 years ago, Numex became the first trade shop in India to offer digital flexo platemaking. This trend continued throughout the years, with the company investing in the Esko CDI Advance Cantilever 1450 with HD Flexo to guarantee its customers the highest quality print results, before pioneering again in 2013, when Numex became the first company in South Asia to install the Esko CDI 5080 with HD Flexo & Pixel+.
Russian converter, Alyaska-Poligrafoformlenie, has invested in a 10-color MPS EFA 430 fully automated flexo press to expand its overall production capabilities.
The company, founded in 2003 from a merger of the Alyaska-Print company and the Poligrafoformlenie holding, produces all types of self-adhesive labels, flexible packaging, shrink labels, thermal tickets, stickers, and other products serving the alcoholic beverages, food, cosmetics, household chemicals, and other end-user markets.
The production is spread across two sites operating more than ten flexographic presses, two gravure printing machines, two digital presses, laminators, thermal printers, and a large fleet of finishing equipment.
Alyaska’s first 9-color MPS EF 430 press was installed in 2017, adding to the fleet of narrow-web presses from Mark Andy and Gallus. Successful experience from the two-year operation led Alyaska s management to the second investment in the Dutch-made machine.
