See where Jackson County’s public high schools fall in latest U.S. News rankings Updated Apr 28, 2021; Facebook Share JACKSON, MI - Western High School is the Jackson County’s highest rated public high school in the latest U.S. News & World Report Best High Schools rankings. The school received a state ranking of No. 214 overall, with a score of 64.34 out of 100, in the ranking released Tuesday, April 27 Rankings are based on several weighted factors, including: College readiness (30%), college curriculum breadth (10%), math and reading proficiency (20%), math and reading performance (20%), underserved student performance (10%) and graduation rate (10%). Western High School scored highest in reading proficiency (66%) in addition to having a graduation rate of 89%.
