The project did not result from construction of the trail and predates that work, Crundwell said. The city brought in the rock during construction of the trail to reduce impact of heavy machinery on the area. “We have been working with the province, regulators, DFO, FLNRO and Tk’emlups, doing all the due-diligence, getting all our permits in place,” Crundwell said, adding archaeological work has also been completed. “Essentially, the project just consists of bank stabilization and protection to prevent erosion. We will be doing a planting and restoration plan as part of that to try and naturalize the work within the channel, after we replace the rock, but that’s essentially it.” ....
