MCCH board explores selling Spring Creek

MURRAY — The Murray-Calloway County Public Hospital Corporation Board of Trustees Wednesday afternoon voted unanimously to begin exploring the possibility of selling the Spring Creek Health Care and Skilled Nursing Center that Murray-Calloway County Hospital has owned for about the past 20 years.  This came following an executive session that was part of the board’s regular monthly meeting. Since the matter involved real estate, the executive session fell under Kentucky Revised Statute provisions necessary for the discussions to be conducted in a private setting. Hospital CEO Jerry Penner said there have been several such sessions among board members in the past year about this issue. However, he also said discussions about this possibility were happening for the past few years.

COVID-19 takes prominent place in MCCH s City/County Meeting | Coronavirus

MURRAY — Probably no one was surprised Thursday when it came to the annual City/County Meeting of Murray-Calloway County Hospital and the main topic of discussion. With the COVID-19 pandemic having brought fear and uncertainty to not just citizens but especially health care facilities this year, the coronavirus was certain to have a large place in this meeting with the members of the Murray City Council and Calloway County Fiscal Court. The hospital’s role in combatting the virus has been extensive since it arrived in March, but hospital CEO Jerry Penner said that pace has exploded since about August when the number of patients began increasing dramatically.
