Foundation accuses government of not supporting sports

The government has over the past five years shown “indifference” to the development of the nation’s sports industry, a member of the Chinese Nationalist Party (KMT)-affiliated National Policy Foundation said yesterday.
Kao Yuang-kuang (高永光), convener of the foundation’s Education, Culture and Sports Division, made the remarks at a news conference in Taipei held by the foundation to discuss the administration of President Tsai Ing-wen’s (蔡英文) policies on education, culture and sports, as the five-year anniversary of the president’s first inauguration is on Thursday next week.
Although Tsai in 2016 said that she planned to double the government’s sports budget to NT$16 billion ....

Youth And Sports Minister Designate Denies Bussing People To Register


 
Mr Mustapha Yussif, the Minister of Youth and Sports Designate, has denied media report connecting him to the bussing of people to register in the Yagaba Kubori Constituency during last year’s national identification registration exercise.
A news report from an Accra-based media organisation, showed at the vetting of Mr Yussif, at the Parliament House, in Accra implicated the nominee, then boss of the National Service Scheme, for using buses of the Scheme to convey registrants from other parts of the country to the constituency.
However, Mr Yussif told the Appointments Committee, where he was vetted for the position of Minister of Youth any Sports, that he was not personally involved in the bussing of the registrants. ....

₹1.10 lakh aid for injured volleyball player

The Department of Sports has decided to hand over ₹1.10 lakh for the treatment of volleyball player N.B. Anjitha, who was injured during training. The financial assistance from the government comes as a relief at a time when she is hoping to return to the court.
The aid for the treatment will be provided from the Sports Development Fund. Ms. Anjitha hails from Iritty in Kannur district. She represented Kerala in National School Games and junior category.
