Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer joked on Piers Morgan s Life Stories that he was brimming with manly passion over the rumour he inspired Mr Darcy in Helen Fielding s Bridget Jones Diary.
The book, later made into a film starring Renee Zellweger, had Mark Darcy as a non-committal, sour and rather snobbish love interest for Bridget, though they eventually found happiness together.
Rumours have been rife that lawyer Mark was based on 58-year-old Keir, who also once practised human rights law, but author Helen has refused to publicly comment, though a report in The Guardian says she confirmed it s not true. ....
