Spire Washington Hospital supported the Durham foodbank through The Trussel Trust A PRIVATE hospital donated food worth more than £500 to Durham foodbank, to help those most in need over the Christmas period. Staff at Spire Washington Hospital, which has been helping the NHS in tackling the pandemic, raised £319 for the cause with a further £250 donated by the company. Spire’s food supply partner Bidfood then supplemented this with a donation of food. That meant that foods worth more than £1,000 was donated to Durham foodbank. Durham foodbank is part of The Trussell Trust network, which supports more than 1,200 food bank centres in the UK to provide a minimum of three days’ nutritionally-balanced emergency food to people who have been referred in crisis.
