The South Arkansas Arts Center is pleased to announce two upcoming art exhibits featuring local artists beginning January 4 and hanging through February 1. The exhibition "Working Collectively" will be showing in the Price Gallery and is a display of works created by members of the weekly Open Studio lead by artist Gay Bechtelheimer. Showing in the Lobby Gallery will be El Dorado local artist Spencer Purinton and his exhibition "Mental Gumbo." There will be an artist s reception on Saturday, January 6 from 5:30-7:00pm. ....
The South Arkansas Arts Center is hosting a reception on Saturday, January 6 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. welcoming Little Rock sculptor Michael Warrick and his exhibition "Memento-Mori" to the Merkle Gallery January 4, 2024 – January 30, 2024. Warrick uses aluminum, hydrocal, and porcelain as his medium in his exhibition that displays a narrative as well as abstracted portraits exploring themes of transformation, angst, meditation, mentorship, identity, death, and memory as the key to understanding who we are and aspire to be. Each portrait is a compilation of images that builds a unique execution through its subtle assemblage of narrative images, natural textures and found objects. ....
