As our summer in Maine winds down and we continue our photographic quest for moose while exploring the state, we recently stumbled on the captivating village of Kokadjo (pronounced co-CAD-jo) on the eastern side of Moosehead Lake.
The term village here is quite an embellishment, as the hospitable sign shortly after crossing the Roach River bridge amusingly clarifies.

The blinking yellow traffic light on Route 6/15 in the center of Greenville is the starting point of many great adventures in the Moosehead Lake region. Guidebooks, tourism brochures, shopkeepers, the visitor center and local folks all reference the spot when giving directions to area attractions, like Lily Bay State Park.
