At long last, the Hennessey Venom F5 has finally made its official debut, three years after the original prototype was shown. Production of the 100% bespoke hypercar is limited to just 24 units worldwide, and the starting price is US$2.1 million (RM8.51 million).
Powering the Venom F5 is a Hennessey-built 6.6 litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine (named Fury), delivering 1,817 horsepower at 8,000 rpm (redline is 8,500 rpm, pretty high for a big bore turbo mill) and 1,617 Nm of torque at 5,000 rpm. Hennessey claims that the engine is the most powerful production road car engine ever made, eclipsing the Bugatti Chiron‘s 8.0 litre W16 quad turbo engine with 1,500 hp and 1,600 Nm. Prior to this, the Venom F5 prototype was fitted with a 7.4 litre mill which made 1,600 hp and 1,762 Nm. ....

Hennessey's Venom F5 aims to nab output, speed records with 1,800 hp

Hennessey Special Vehicles (only to be confused slightly with Hennessey Performance Engineering) has released the first of its twenty-four Venom F5 hypercars, whose twin-turbocharged 6.6-litre ‘Fury’ V8 engine makes an astounding 1,817 horsepower and 1,193 lb-ft of torque, a power record for production vehicles. HSV predicts the F5 will hit a top speed of 311 mph (500 km/h)!
The Speed Devil Blue production prototype Venom F5 gets its name from the Fujita tornado measurement system, which ranks intensity on a scale up to five F5 being the worst, with wind speeds up to 318 mph (512 km/h). Get it?!
With a carbon-fibre chassis and body panels giving it a dry weight of just 2,998 lbs, the F5 has a power-to-weight ratio of 1.34 hp/kg (1,298 hp/ton) that allegedly allows it to claw its way up to 100 km/h in 2.6 seconds, 200 km/h in 4.7 seconds, and 400 km/h in 15.5 seconds. ....
