and hopefully, we can bring that temperature down a little bit. has there ever been a time in your view of u.s. history when we have had this number of really experienced warriors. especially, given the kind of combat they have been fighting. the battle tempo they have been fighting on and off for 18 years. yeah. i think if you look throughout history, i m not sure any force throughout the history of mankind has fought for this long. this long of a sustained fight. you can go back to the roman legions and find battles that go on for 100 years but not everybody was fighting in that fight. i mean, we have special operations warriors that have been fighting since 9/11 and before continuously. but i would also tell you that i believe that this is the finest military in the history of the world. because, one, unfortunately, because of of the tragic events of 9/11, we have been at war for 18 years. and we ve gotten very, very good at fighting.
