sometimes in a family incident, a murder-suicide, but sort of these spec tack larceny suicides, this performtive suicides, they are rare. you want to find out what is it about his mental state that led him to do this. and that would be who was he following on social media, who was he communicating with, and what would be the motivation to commit suicide and to leave a suicide note behind in this fashion. so the press conference is in about 45 minutes. we ll have a sense of what i m looking at is why does this continue to be a joint terrorism task force investigation and is that because there is something in the suicide note or his family knew something about what that motivation would be. that motivation, once again, could be a number of things. but the terrorism would be

in anything that he might regard as a political spec tack. governor weld, you re a former u.s. attorney in boston. you re a veteran of a republican justice department. you know the workings of this sort of thing. and you know the workings of congressional investigative committees. i think your first job in public service was working with young hillary clinton, then hillary rodham on the congressional committee investigating president nixon which eventually led to president nixon resigning the presidency. as you see the special prosecutor making this unprecedented choice basically unprecedented since television cameras first went into hearing rooms, what is your reaction tonight to robert mueller saying i m ready to testify but no cameras. well, lawrence, i think that bob mueller is totally up to testifying in public. he was head of the fbi for 12 years. he was grilled by congress both parties many, many times.
of course, he was his counsel during the campaign as well which also have to have been exhausting. he s been an outstanding white house counsel, giving political and legal advice to the president. what he s done on judges is spec tack spectacular. he is the lawyer for the office of the president, he s not the president s personal lawyer. his conversations with the president clearly could be subject to executive privilege, depending on what they discussed. i m sure when he went in with his discussions with special counsel he did it in consultation with the president and the president s personal lawyers. the mueller investigation is ongoing. i don t see it wrapping up any time soon. i m not sure there was a connection between the two. surely whatever don mcgahn was going to share with the special counsel, he has shared with the president and his legal team. mike: we knew mcgahn was planning to leave, the white house team had been reporting it for some time.
