Overzealous rules have already rendered travel unaffordable – the last thing we need is more pompous lectures

There is a certain symmetry to the traffic light system for international travel that will determine how we’ll spend this summer. And that is because, under the Government’s Covid regime, three new classes of people have emerged.
The first comprises the frightened evangelists; submissive either because they are still genuinely terrified that they might die of Covid, even after vaccination, or because they don’t mind being told what to do. If Boris Johnson doesn’t want people travelling this year, he needn’t worry about this lot – they aren’t going anywhere.
