SHARE Virgin Galactic Holdings tumbled on Friday after its billionaire chairman Chamath Palihapitiya offloaded shares worth about $213 million in the space-tourism company founded by Richard Branson. Mr Palihapitiya, 44, who has helped drive the frenzied growth of blank-cheque companies, disposed of 6.2 million shares at an average price of $34.32 this week, based on a filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission. He still owns 15.8 million shares with his partner Ian Osborne through investment company Social Capital Hedosophia, amounting to about a 6.5 per cent stake. Mr Palihapitiya previously sold shares worth almost $100m in December, filings show. The latest transaction allows him to fund an investment to help fight climate change, he said. ....

The Sri Lanka-born businessman disposed of 6.2 million shares at an average price of $34.32 this week, based on a filing with the US Securities & Exchange Commission. He still owns 15.8 million shares with his investment partner Ian Osborne, amounting to a 6.2 per cent stake. Palihapitiya, 44, and Osborne helped to kick-start the booming Wall Street trend of special-purpose acquisition vehicles, through New York investment firm Social Capital Hedosophia.
