The virtual event included Eric Harris, a field consultant on human trafficking.
The event was put on by USIâs Sexual Assault and Gender Violence Prevention Group and the Southwest Indiana Regional Coalition Against Trafficking.
Harris discussed the definition of human trafficking, vulnerable youth populations, how traffickers groom their victims, barriers to treatment, and overcoming the stigma of survivors.
âWhat we find is that a lot of people have heard of it, but they only think of being an international problem and not a local issue. We do in fact have local human trafficking as a problem in Indiana and in Evansville as well.
