Central Indiana high schools' plans for 2021 graduation

High school graduations are weeks away, and while many central Indiana high schools are planning for in-person celebrations, the details are still subject to COVID-19.
Some schools have announced ticket limits, but with the stipulations that those numbers could change. Others are waiting until the ceremony is closer before bringing up ticket numbers. Some have also already announced livestreams for those who can t be there.
In addition to tickets, plans for social distancing, mask wearing and other elements of the event are still coming as schools and health departments watch the spread of COVID-19. Plus, districts stressed that plans are still subject to change and will include precautions made with local health departments. For those that are planning outside ceremonies, many have also announced rain dates. ....

When Wina Aaron arrived to the United States from Eritrea in 2010, around age 7, she remembers being shocked by the number of cars on the highway leading her away from the airport.
Aaron s family left the east-African country, which for years experienced a violent war with Ethiopia, its neighbor to the south. She lived with her mother and two younger siblings her father had gone ahead of them to the U.S.
In my head, I thought he was just trying to leave us, she said Thursday. Growing older, I understood that that s not what it was. He was trying to keep us safe, move us to a place where I wouldn t have to be afraid of going to school. Where I could go out in public without having to be terrified. ....

Those words were on a sign in the house where Doug Keenan grew up.
âThatâs always been on my mind,â he said of that saying.
Keenan hasnât just thought that mantra, heâs lived it
And despite retiring after 30 years as Noble County Purdue Extension educator at the end of this month, Keenan is going to keep on with that life philosophy as he becomes a family life skills coach at the Bowen Center.
âIâll get to help people,â Keenan said. âWhat gets better than that? Nothing.â
Keenan has helped people from all walks of life in all sorts of ways. ....

Betty deHebreard was born September 21, 1942, to Herman and Dorothy Prange in Indianapolis, IN, a first generation American, which she was so proud of. Her German heritage and German family remained a dominant point of pride throughout her entire life. It was in kindergarten where she met her future husband Pete. They went on their first date in junior high school and would have been married for 57 years on January 18, 2021.
After graduating from Southport High School, she attended Indiana University, where she graduated with a B.S. in Business Education. She was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority. The lasting friendships she made at Alpha Chi continued throughout her life with regular, lively reunions in Arizona, South Carolina, and Michigan. ....
