Ceremony honors local officers killed on duty Law enforcement officers have also faced an unprecedented amount of scrutiny within the past year as a result of various events happening across the country. Sheriffâs 1st Sgt. Lance Davenport They gathered at a simple memorial outside Fauquierâs jail Wednesday morning to remember three local law enforcement officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.
The sheriffâs office annual memorial service paid tribute to Charles E. Murray Jr., John Henry Walter and John H. Woodson. The ceremony took place during National Police Week.
Last year âresulted in a large increase of line-of-duty deaths in law enforcement,â sheriffâs 1st Sgt. Lance Davenport said in his featured remarks. âAccording to the Officer Down Memorial Page, 362 officers lost their lives in the line of duty in 2020.
