HAMMOND - For the past 28 years, Southeastern Louisiana University has collected recycled Christmas trees each January to fortify local wetlands, and this year will be no different.
With the holiday season in full swing, officials with Southeastern Louisiana University are reminding Hammond and Ponchatoula residents of its Christmas tree recycling program.
HAMMOND, La. (AP) Although Christmas has come and gone, Southeastern Louisiana University said area residents still have time to give a gift to the environment. The university will be collecting discarded Christmas trees again this year to benefit the state's wetlands.
