I get for coming out today. I had an opportunity to meet ,ith local elected Officials Police and sheriffs offices, the office of emergency preparedness. We took off and we flew encircled that flew in circles and we flew in come on row and circled back. The devastation is nowhere near what he saw in Southeast Louisiana yesterday. Powermistic the restoration is going to happen relatively rapidly, but i cant get a prediction on that. Have wendy of power crews that are here working already. We had more power crews positioned ahead of storm than ever in the history of our state. And i think it was the worst storm to ever strike louisiana. I talked to individuals here who can never remember Hurricane Force winds this far north in louisiana, after the experience yesterday. We have got a long way to go. We will be posting a major federal disaster declaration today and i expect they will turn that around fast and that will enable us to even more assistance and we can start looking for parishes

First of all, it is clear that we did not sustain and suffer the absolute catastrophic damage that we thought was likely based on the forecast we had last night but we have sustained a tremendous amount of damage and we have thousands and thousands of our fellow citizens whose lives are upside down because their businesses and or their homes have been damaged and we have lots of challenges around the state to say the least with a variety of things whether electrical power, Water Service or you name it and we have a lot of work to do but we are in better shape today than might have been the case and so we have a lot to be thankful for as well. As you know by now im sure hurricane laura made landfall as predicted last night or i should say this morning at 1 00 a. M. As a very strong category four hurricane with sustained winds of 150 miles per hour. This was most powerful storm to ever make landfall in louisiana and it is still a powerful storm that is in the state of lou
