Following her switch, Booysen becomes the latest South African to land a top coaching job outside the country after Pitso Mosimane recently left Mamelodi Sundowns to join Al Ahly in Egypt.
On landing her new role, the South African admitted the ambition and passion of the South Sudan Football Association in women s football development lured her. When I saw what South Sudan was doing in terms of women’s football and the strategy the SSFA has put in place, and what they have done since putting it in place, everything that they have done made me excited and since then I have always wanted to be a part of something like this, Booysen told the SSFA website.

Performance Analyst Shilene Booysen has been appointed as the new head coach for the South Sudan Senior Women’s football team.
Booysen penned down a two-year contract that will see her lead the “Bright Starlet” as they are affectionately known until 2023.
Shilene is no stranger to the big stage as she has previously worked in the National Women’s Soccer League in America where she served as the assistant coach at Houston Dash. She has also worked as Bafana Bafana analyst and has been with Banyana Banyana as a performance analyst from 2014 until her latest appointment.
